How It Works – The Basics
PPC stands for ‘Pay Per Click’, which is essentially an online, advertising bidding system. As an advertiser there’s just a few simple steps to get you up an running:
- Create a selection of Keywords that are relevant to your business / services / products.
- Set a bid amount for each Keyword, the higher your bid amount, the higher your page position on Google.
- Next you create your 2 line text adverts, which need to be eye-catching and specific, that will link directly through to your website.
- When a user searches any one of your Keywords on Google your 2 line text advert will appear on the right hand side of the page, also known as ?sponsored links?.
- They like your advert, click on the link and hey presto, they land on your website instantly.
- Google then charge you accordingly for that click, depending on the pre-set bid amount for the searched term.
Example
You own a retail Company selling trainers, football boots, t-shirts etc and have the Keyword, ‘puma trainers’, in your Google Account. You’ve set the Keyword bid to 50p. A user enters the term, ‘puma trainers’, on Google and your advert appears on the right-hand side.
