Pay Per Click advertising is quickly becoming the most cost effective way of advertising online, with Google AdWords leading the way.
PPC stands for ‘Pay Per Click’, which is essentially an online, advertising bidding system. As an advertiser there’s just a few simple steps to get you up an running:
You own a retail Company selling trainers, football boots, t-shirts etc and have the Keyword, ‘puma trainers’, in your Google Account. You’ve set the Keyword bid to 50p. A user enters the term, ‘puma trainers’, on Google and your advert appears on the right-hand side.
Pay Per Click Accounts can be simple to set up but take constant monitoring, adjusting and optimising to gain the best results. Regardless of the industry, PPC Campaigns need regular monitoring and refining, often on a daily basis. Contact Pinksheep today and learn how to stay one step ahead of your competitors.

The Search Network displays your adverts above or alongside Keyword generated search results. As well as your adverts appearing on Google, you also have the opportunity of exposure on several partner websites too:
Opting in to Google’s Content Network will enable you to advertise on thousands of high-quality websites, news pages and blogs that partner with Google. Advertising on the Content Network could expand your marketing reach to targeted audiences and therefore, more potential customers. Here are just a few of the websites available through Google’s Content Network:
Local Business Adverts can be found in two separate areas within Google, either on the Google Search or on Google Maps.
Google Search Adverts are triggered when a user, (that is situated locally of your business), enters one of your Keywords. Google are able to track local users through computer I.P addresses and tracking cookies.
Google Maps Adverts will need a brief description of your business, a business address, and a business telephone number. There?s also the option of including an image, for example, a company logo or a picture of the business premises.
This option is available via the content network, which is made up of directories and smaller search engines that have partnered with Google. In the past there was little control over exactly where your adverts would appear on the content network. However, Google now allow you to hand-pick which sites you want your adverts to appear on, making it nice and targeted.
With Placement-Targeted Campaigns you can bid on the adverts in two ways:
There are millions of mobile phone users out there today and the amount of people using mobile Internet is growing rapidly.
Mobile Adverts will enable you to target customers as they’re out and about, on the move. Users can connect to your mobile website, if you have one, or they can call the business directly.
With Mobile Adverts you have the ability to:
These too are only shown on the content network and you?ll have to create images that match one of 8 sizes, as specified by Google. Acceptable formats are: .gif, .jpg, .png, .swf. You can also have the adverts in a selected number of languages.
Image Adverts allow you to promote your business, special offers, products and anything else you feel may benefit you. Similar to Placement-Targeted Adverts, you can bid on a cost-per-click or a cost-per-thousand-impression basis.
Like Image Adverts, Video Adverts also appear on the content network only. When a user views the video they’ll have the option to click on a display URL that will take them directly to your website.
Again, you’re either charged on a cost-per-click or a cost-per-thousand-impression basis.
Yahoo! Search is widely reported to be the second largest search engine on the internet, after Google. Although similar to Google in many ways, users often experience identical ranking positions to that on Google for slightly less cost. Given the smaller target audience however, this can also result in a lower return on investment.
In addition to a keyword bidding system on the Yahoo! Search Engine, Yahoo! also offer alternative means of advertising such as; Mobile Adverts, Image Adverts, Video Adverts.
Much newer than both Google and Yahoo!’s PPC systems, MSN adCenter is used on the MSN Live Search facility, which is thought to be in the top 5 most used Search Engines.
Facebook’s growth has been rapid since its launch in 2004 and is now one of the largest social networking sites in the World, along with MySpace and Bebo. With over 100 million active users Worldwide, Facebook have now developed their own Pay Per Click Advertising system called Facebook Ads.
Facebook Ads allow an advertiser to reach a target audience determined by their age, sex, location, occupation and interests.
