Say ‘bye bye’ to nasty dots…

HD Printing eliminates those nasty halftone dots associatedwith conventional screening

If startlingly good quality is important to you, you’ve probably heard of high definition. Long before people started swooning over HD television, we were well stuck into HD printing.

We could go on and on about why HD printing is superior (don’t get us started), but it’s really something you should see for yourself. Just fill in the form below and we’ll send you a sample pack to thumb through. If you’d like more information, get in touch.

The image shows a live comparison between conventional screening (left) and HD screening (right).

What is HD printing?

If you’re downright intrigued, here are a few fun facts to keep you going while you wait for your sample pack.

  • HD printing is also know as ‘stochastic screening’ or ‘FM screening’.
  • The process has actually been available since the 1970s, but recently became more popular thanks to an increase in the use of computer-to-plate technology.
  • The dots that make up an HD print are as small as 10 micrometres, making images seem photographic.
  • HD printing allows for fonts to be printed on colour backgrounds in much smaller sizes.
  • It also keeps misregistration (when things don’t quite line up) at bay.
  • At the same time, it eliminates moiré (that strange wobbly pattern effect that makes you feel a bit dizzy).
  • It also keeps unsightly rosette patterns from appearing in your printing (trust us, you don’t want those).
  • It also makes for very happy customers – we know this for a fact.
